1920 - 2009
 Ethel Mae Young Bays, 88, of Chesapeake, Virginia died at her home January 2 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bays was born April 19, 1920 in Houckville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Morton Harrison and Chloe Grimm Young, and was the last surviving of their 11 children. She was born again in Christ August 18, 1944, and was a member of Dry Ridge Free Will Baptist Church. She was predeceased (1997) by her husband, Edgar Bruce Bays. She is survived by her four daughters: Vivian (Bernard) Swann of Westminster, Maryland; Velsie (Robert) Hewlett of Louisa, Kentucky; Virginia (Royce, Jr.) Daw of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Velda Frances (Charles) Daniel of Paintsville, Kentucky. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren, as well as numerous other family members. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Mrs. Bays was a home-maker, farmer, Sunday School teacher, and missionary to Nevada. It is with great sorrow that her family bids her goodbye, but they are confident of being reunited with her in Heaven. Wilson Funeral Home will conduct a viewing Saturday Jan. 3 from 6-9 p.m., and funeral services Sunday Jan. 4 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Douglas Thorpe officiating. |
