James L. (Jim) Thorpe 66 of Louisa, Kentucky passed away Monday March 30th after a long battle with cancer. Jim was born June 1, 1942 at Biggs, Kentucky, the son of the late Zion and Nola Mae Whitt Thorpe. A brother Roy Thorpe also preceded him in death. Jim was a disabled welder and was self-employed the later years of his life. He loved collecting cars and going to car shows and was a member of the Iron City Antique Auto Club.
Survivors include his loving wife Brenda Vipperman Thorpe, two sons and daughter-in-laws Greg and Kim Thorpe of Pikeville, Kentucky and Shawn and Lisa Thorpe of St. Cloud Florida; three grandchildren Keisha Lee Thorpe, Morgan D. Thorpe, and Brandi Lee Thorpe.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday April 3rd at 2:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home by Rev. Keith Workman. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Burial Park at Ashland, Kentucky.
