Jack Taylor Billups Jack Taylor Billups 83 of Williamstown, WV formerly of Fort Gay, WV went to be with the Lord on Monday July 20, 2009.

Jack Taylor was born May 7, 1926 at Fort Gay, the son of the late Zachary Taylor and Lora Pickleseimer Billups. He was a retired clerk for the Norfork and Southern Railroad, member of the Fort Gay United Methodist Church, American Legion, and the Fort Gay Lions Club. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. He was the first fire chief for the Fort Gay Volunteer Fire Department, and served several terms as Fort Gay City Mayor.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Napier Billups who died in January 2008 and his son John Taylor Billups who died on July 24, 1994.

Jack Taylor is survived by a grandson Wesley Taylor Billups and grand-daughter Katherine Suzanne Billups both of Williamstown, WV., a niece and several nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday July 24th at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Billups Gap Cemetery at Fort Gay, WV. Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

So sorry to hear of Jack's passing, he worked with my dad Jack Britt on Norfolk and Southern Railroad there in ft gay.

Wes, Kate, Sue, Russ & Anita; Sorry for our loss, Jack was a great person & always had such a good humor. He was a very intelligent person & could do so many things. He & Betty & Glenn & I had some great time's camping & traveling together. I'm sorry I'm not able to come down but know that my prayer's are with you all. We were sorry to hear that Jack had passed away. We had many good times camping with Jack an Betty. We have several pictures taken on different camping trips. We also enjoyed Wesley & Katherine a few times and remember them. Carl & Glenna Spurlock

Jack and Betty were dear friends of mine for over 55 years. I will miss him as I miss Betty. My prayers are with the family at this time. May God Bless....
