Gertrude Carter Hammond Gertrude Carter Hammond 77 of Louisa, Kentucky went to be with her Lord on Monday August 2, 2010 following a brief illness.

Gertrude was born January 22, 1933 at Busseyville, Ky., the daughter of the late Thomas and Laura Bradley Carter. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers Odis and Randall Carter. Gertrude was a nurse aid.

Survivors include her loving husband Bennie Hammond, two daughters and son-in-laws Vickie and Scotty Painter of Dalton, GA and Bonnie and Tommy Boyd of Louisa; four sons and daughters-in-laws Bennie and Denise Hammond of Hampton, VA, Ronnie and Kay Hammond, Billie and Andy Hammond, and Rickie and Brettia Hammond all of Louisa, KY; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Venny Vanhoose and Dr. James A. Hayes on Thursday August 5th at 3:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery at Louisa, KY. Friends may call from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home.

Bonnie and Ron I am so sorry to hear of Gert's passing. She was a wonderful woman. I know she will be greatly missed not only by you but by all her friends. Highbottom will not be the same without her.

Bennie and family...my most sincere condolences to you and your family. Gertrude was a winner...I have known her all my life...I lived down the road from her there in the bottom. Had not seen her since I left the bottom in 58 to join the Army...but she is the type of person one never forgets...peace be with you and the family. Liss
