I was saved at 5 years old in Germany, at Sembach Baptist Church in 1974 under Pastor "Grisby". The Holy Spirit often fell heavily. Oh what rewards pastor has! I truly love him dearly. I served God again from 16 y/o till 26...then backsliding till I just fully gave my life back to Jesus. Here we are truly at the end of days. See you soon you wonderful ponderous man of God!

So much time since the days in Germany yet I still remember Pastor Grigsby's great smile and laugh. I'm sorry to know you are gone from us and rejoice you are now with Him. My deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry, we just found out about Pastor Roy. May God Bless Pastor Grigsby! He led my wife Judie, and I to the Lord in his home in Germany way back in 1989. My wife had attended Rhineland Baptist for several weeks and finally got me to go one Sunday. Pator Roy's sermon was the first time I'd ever heard the Gospel preached - my wife and I were changed that night - we were both lead to the Lord by a wonderful man - Pastor Roy. Pastor Roy even preached at my military retirement in 2000 - Because of him, we led our son to the Lord, my wife is a Christian school teacher, and I am an adult Bible class teacher. Plus when he lived in our home in Virgina after leaving Germany, he led my wife's sister and her husband to the Lord. Thank you Jesus for loaning us your servant Roy - Mrs. Grigsby, Pator Roy is a wonderful man - he is sorely missed - but one day, we'll all be home together in the Lord - God bless you all. In Christ Tom & Judie Smith

I was saved under the preaching of Brother Roy. I was blessed to serve with him and his family while at Sembach, Germany. I have many great and wonderful memories of Brother Roy and Sister Florann. I moved to Germany under the impression that I would not be there long, because I did not want to be married to my husband Lynol. The Lord had other things in store for me and my family. We were stationed in Germany from 1970 to 1974. I never hear the song, "Thank you For Giving to The Lord", that I do not think of Brother Roy. If Brother Roy and his family had not been willing to leave the United States and go the Germany when the Lord called him, I do not know where I would be today. Because of his faithfulness I have been serving the Lord all these years and I know for sure I will see Brother Roy again. I remember how happy our family was while there in Germany. Since no one had families there the church was our family and what a joy it was to serve. I remember Brother Roy's dear mother, what a blessing she was. I remember Lynol helping out to build the spiral staircase at the family center there. I remember Brother Roy calling the men of the church together (many times) to pray for Lynol's lost soul. I remember the truth that Brother Roy always taught. I was raised Pentecostal and when I was saved I had many questions, but Brother Roy taught me the truth from God's word. The King James was then and still is God's only word. Thank you Sister Florann for being the faithful wife you were to such a blessed man of God. I know you and the children will truly miss him as will I. One day (soon I pray) I will stand with our Lord and I will tell everyone that Brother Roy is the one who lead me to the Lord. Thank you. Florann keep you head up high the Lord has not forgotten you. You too will see Brother Roy again. I remember the song the church sang the last service we were in at Sembach. It was "If We Never Meet Again This Side of Heaven". Then it says I will meet you on that beautiful shore and I know we will truly meet him again on that beautiful shore. God bless you Sister Florann and all the children. In Christ Love. Jerry.

In 1982 I had just enlisted in the USAF and was stationed at Sembach AB. That same week a gentlemen witnessed to me and invited me to Pastor Roy's church. I remember Pastor Roy building a gymnasium where we would hold volleyball games and pot lucks. Pastor Roy hated to lose. I spent the remaining two years in Germany at that church where I fell in love with Jesus and God's people. Pastor Grigsby didn't just talk about the love of God he showed it daily. I too will look forward to seeing him in glory. We always ended with I'll see you later if not here, in glory.

We just found out about Pastor Roy. We truly treasure our times with him and you, Florann. I am so glad that we got to visit you for a short time a few years ago. We had the best time with you both. Pastor Roy made a deep impact on my life. I learned so much from him and from you. I have never felt as close to a pastor and his wife and family since we left Germany in 1985. We look forward to the day that we are reunited in heaven with those we have lost here. God bless you, and your children. We love you all. Larry and Eva Lewis

What a wonderful man of God. He could touch your soul with a sermon that would change your life forever. We learned so much from this kind man. He no longer has to read from a book or his Bible to know what it feels like to live with his creator. Dont you wish you could hear one of his sermons now? God Bless you and your family Florann. We are just now finding out the news. He was majestic !! 1989-1992

Wow, Germany was so long ago. I am saddened at Roys passing. I will always remember him, and his blue van. The great sermons, and the guy that shared his family to those of us who didn't have one in Germany. Flo thank you for letting us borrow him while overseas. God has him now, it won't be long until we see him again.

Even though we learned of Pastor Grigsby's passing several months later, Floranne ... we want you to know that our prayers are with you and the kids. I know it must have been a sacrifice to share your husband and father with so many others over the years. However the eternal blessing that he was to all of us is beyond compare. It has been years since we have seen you all, but the Biblical training that we received under your leadership has helped to keep us faithful to the Lord and His service for over 25 years. Praise the Lord for Pastor Roy's faithfulness to the Lord.

Pastor Grigsby was a great help to me, in my Christian life. The Lord used him to help me understand some Bible doctrines, in which I was confused. I will never forget him. My children thought he was the greatest man in the world and have spoken of him many times. As a Pastor, his teachings have been a great help to me. He will always be a part of my ministry and my life.

I thank Pastor Grigsby for being real. For being reachable, touchable, and transparent -- quick with a smile, his unforgettable laugh, and his tears in the pulpit. Not all pastors are created equal. Much of a pastor's greatness is attributed to his love for people. You may not remember many sermons he preached, but you'll remember how he loved you. Not until the last three years in our present ministry, have I felt like I could finally transfer my allegiance to another pastor and feel like I've come home again. My pastor reminds me so much of Pastor Grigsby. What a blessing it is to be shepherded. Now that I'm all grown up, married to an assistant pastor with a ministry and family of my own here in Southern California, I can see clearly Pastor's influence on my life. I was grateful for it then, but it's invaluable to me now. The Bible he signed for my high school graduation on June 10, 1990 is my favorite and most-used sword. From its pages the Lord has allowed me to lead others to Christ and encourage them with God's promises. That's only possible because Pastor faithfully taught us teenagers in Bible class at RCA -- choosing never to overlook our ability to learn and apply the Word of God, and having a vision for how we'd so need it later in life and ministry. Mrs. Grigsby, Jim, Charlene, & Rob -- THANK YOU for sharing him with us. Now that I'm in ministry I know there's a sacrifice to be made when there's a man of God in your household. It's not always easy to see Daddy have to leave so often to put out spiritual fires. And yet, if the fireman never comes, never willing to leave the comforts of his own home, then what hope do we have? I know the Lord has -- and will continue to -- bless you for it. Thank you for touching our lives and hearts and enabling us to touch others for eternity. We are your fruit that remains. We love you.

Just today I was singing the Hero of the Faith song and thinking and talking with my mom about Bro. Roy and Ms. Florann. Hardly a week goes by that i don't sing that song and think of him and his family and Eastside. I have had the privilege of going to every church Bro Roy has pastored since Rheinland in 1985. The Lord was very good to us to lend him to all of us for such a time when we needed him. His Godly influence and love of country and of his family and life and especially the Lord and His Word are missed. I was very thankful for the Internet and how the Lord has used that to allow people all over the world to hear of his progression toward Heaven and then to watch the funeral. I love you Ms. Florann and am praying for you and your family.

I just read of Pastor Grigsby's passing. I never met him personally but my pastor in Korea Bruce Rosko knew him from Trinity Baptist College. I wanted to pass on my condolences and say thank you. I listened to some of his messages on tapes we had there at Lighthouse Baptist Church and one called "Samson 3 strikes your out" This message kept me out of much mischief as single soldier in Korea. God Bless you and we may never meet on this side of Heaven but I will thank Bro Roy when I go home

Dear Florann and Family, I was in the USAF and at Rheinland from 1979-81 and had the joy of serving Christ at Rheinland with you all from 1986-90 establishing the Rheinland Servicemen's Center. I thank God for the many prescious memories of those days, and the many people we were able to minister to. My life was forever changed because of you. I was drawn much closer to the Lord. I can still hear Bro Roy sayin "Keep on Keepin on". I've lost touch with many friends that I made through Rheinland, but would love to re-connect with them. Florann, may the Lord continue to bless you and use you. I would have been at the funeral, but I did not hear about it until the day after. I watched it online and Bro George and Bro John did excellent, as they normally do. ~~ Your friend, Michael Lancto

Brother Roy was a spiritual giant with an uncompromising faith who loved life and people. He laughed hard (father/daughter cake bake), played hard (blood card game and football), preached with conviction (don't ever compromise your faith), and he loved our Lord with compassion. It was through Brother Roy that I and my family became intimately familiar with and devoted to our Lord. Florann, Jim, Rob and family, we grieve with you. However, we are continuing to live the legacy Brother Roy established in Germany. God's richest blessings to each of you as you enter a new chapter of life. Spiritual friends remain close even when we are geographically separated.

Dear Grigsby family and Eastland Baptist Church,
I just learned of Brother Roy going home and it is with mixed emotions I write this. I grieve with you for your loss, yet I rejoice that Brother Roy is now the happiest, healthiest and most alive he has ever been in his life. I also take comfort, as I am sure you do, that he is now waiting for us to join him in Glory. I am thankful for the way Brother Roy allowed God to use him to teach and preach His Word. I am also thankful for too-short time I had the privilege to sit under his ministry. Praying for Gods blessings and comfort for you all.

Two people in my life inspired me to study scripture- my mom and Pastor Grigsby. I have been blessed to hear many preachers, but no one could teach like him. I wish my daughter could've heard him. I believe his sermons would've made as great an impact on her life as they did mine. Even as a child, he could hold my attention. His descriptions and enthusiasm about everything he preached in church and in school impressed me so much. I praise the Lord for his life, and I know that he is in good company. Florann, Jimmy, Charlene and Robbie, my heart goes out to you as I listened to the service of Pastor Roy's homegoing today. My prayers are with you all. You all were such an encouragement to me when I was a member of Rheinland Baptist from 78-80. I remember those great sermons from Brother Roy and the series he did on Eagles. I remember all the laughs we had together when the guys of our church would play football and when I would come from Sembach at first to the little church which was always overflowing and I remember when we moved to the big building in Kinsbach and ya'll lived upstairs. I especially remember you and Brother Roys reactions when the church brought Jimmy home for Christmas from Liberty and he was hiding in a box on the platform that ya'll opened at the beginning of a sunday morning service. I remember the good times we used to have and how Brother Roy and you Miss Florann always encouraged us young single airmen. I was 18 then and had never been anywhere until I got to Germany. I can never say enough to express my love for you all and how wonderful you all were to me. Brother Roy was my hero and almost like a second father to me. I learned of his homegoing last week. You see I live at RAF Lakenheath England and I'm still in the AF after almost 25 years. My family went to see friends at Ramstein last week and while at Rheinland, Kathy and Woody told me Brother Roy had moved to that "Mansion Over the Hilltop". We will continue to pray for you. Love in Christ, Brother Hal Winn and family

We will always cherish the fun phone call we received from Pastor Grigsby this past Christmas. Your attendance at Bill's and Jenny's wedding in Pennsylvania was such a blessing to all of us. Thank you for the many kind things you and Pastor have done for us through the years. Your marriage was a consistent example to all of us. Please know that we are praying for you and your family as you make adjustments and find your "new normal." We will be forever grateful for the deep Bible teaching and the life example Pastor lived in front of us. Florann & family. We know that you grieve for your loss. We grieve with you I believe that all who knew Bro Roy grieve at this time but we also rejoice because he is 'home.' I don't believe he would come back, if he could. The seven years we spent in Germany under his teaching have never been equaled. His way of teaching, preaching, and leading were unique in that he believed in doing it the best way -- that is to say, the Bible Way. May our Lord hold you close in his arms. All that knew Bro. Roy will miss him, because just knowing he was "there" was a comfort to us all. May God bless you and your family during this difficult time.

Miss Florann, Charlie, Jimmy and Robby, we share your grief but rejoice in the hope that Pastor Grigsby alsways taught us about - eternal life with our Savior, Jesus Christ. Our short time with you on July 7th will always be a blessed memory right there with all of the memories from Germany. I share the sentiments of many in that I truly believe my family and I are serving God today because of Pastor Grigsby's straight-from-the-Bible preaching and teaching that we enjoyed while at Rheinland (85-92). We wish we could be there with you during this time of loss as you and Pastor Grigsby were always there for our family in times of need but since we can't, we will be lifting you all up in our daily prayers and trusting God to give you the peace and comfort that only He can. God Bless you all!

We are so blessed to have been under Bro Roy's ministry for three yrs while we were stationed at Sembach Germany in the early 70's. His family stayed in our home until they were able to move into their home, so we really got to know and love the whole Grigsby family, including Mom Grigsby. What a blessing and help in our walk with the Lord Bro Roy was, and he will always be remembered with much love and appreciation, being under his teaching and ministry in Germany.

Dear Florann and family,
Please forgive my not being at the services I only found out the day of the service of Bro. Roy's passing. Even though I have been bed bound for over a year now I would have gladly come and rented a wheel chair just to be there. My wife Nancy and I are praying for you at this time of need. We love you both very much and I will miss being able to talk with Brother Roy he has been a blessing to me not only in Germany but aftwards as well. I will never forget the time you both came and spent a few days with us and Brother Roy shoot that deer. I wish I could say I still pastor that church but the needs of my family took priority and I had to resign. I doubt I will ever be able to pastor again unless God heals me. So I will Cherish those times we had together. Feel free to write and let me know how you are getting on and if you need anything if it is within my power I will give it and if not then I am sure God will. God Bless you and all you have done.

I thank God upon every remembrance of you, and there are so very many precious ones. God blessed me so very much to have Bro. Roy as my pastor at Sembach Germany way back when Jim, Rob, and "Charlie" were Jimmy, Robby and Charlene, and to me you will always be. As pre-teens Bro Roy taught us very important life lessons, Preached God's Word in a way that made it so vivid in my mind. I know what Jesus' death on the cross for me was like before
" The Passion Of Christ" was ever made through Bro. Roy's preaching. My prayers are with you and I love you all, if we never meet again this side of Heaven, I'll see you in the Rapture very soon. AMEN

When we got orders for our second tour to Germany, little did we know what a blessing we had in store! In that little church behind the pizza parlor, we heard for the first time a preacher who was not only a preacher, but a wonderful Bible teacher as well. He taught us to compare scripture with scripture and to study the word of God. He instilled a love of God's word that has stayed with us over many years strengthening us when nothing else could. Later, when Ed was ordained, we were honored to have Bro Roy preach his ordination. Tireless and faithful, he has touched the lives of countless people. I think as I write this that indeed he now has that "Manison Over the Hilltop!"
Florann, Charlene, Jim and Rob, may God bless you and strengthen you. You all stood with him and encouraged him so as he served the Lord. You are all a blessing to us. My love and prayers are with you.

My prayers go out to Florann and Family in this time of loss. Roy was my Pastor at Sembach Baptist Church when I was stationed in Germany and I will always treasure the fun times we had at the Servicemans' Center and going to the Army Missile Batteries to hold services for the Army personnel that were stationed there. Some of my old service buddies and I still talk of those times we spent together... my life is indeed richer for Roy being a part of it.. he will be missed.

My heart sings for joy and aches with absence. We do not sorrow as others. Our strength in the Lord is on the foundation of the Rheinland years where Sue was saved. Our prayer is for the same comfort which the Holy Spirit ministered through him so many times, would be the overwhelming blanket upon all who knew Brother Roy and especially Mrs Florann and family.

I am revieved to hear that Bro Roy is now pain free and with the Lord. He is a great man with a true love for the Lord, family and friends. I still have tapes of his services from Germany where I found the Lord through his ministry. I will never forget the times we had building a church out of an old bakery. Those times will always be with me. My best goes out to the whole family.

My family and I certainly own a great debt of gratitude to this faithful servant of Christ! And, to our Lord for allowing us to witness such an example of a true believer and faithful shepherd. God used this man and his family in a mighty way to influence and shape our lives, and we are better servants for Christ because of his example. May our Father in Heaven bestow upon each of us - a "double portion" of whatever it was that He gave to Brother Roy Grisby! We should all be encouraged and challanged by the love and passion of this departed Warrior.. To all the family and friends of this beloved brother, our prayers and sincere condolences in this season of grief - May each of us sense the peace and nearness of the Savior just now, as together with faith, and hope, and great promise, we await the joy that will surely come in the morning.

Within moment of exiting his former self, Roy is greeted at the third heaven with throngs of those who have gone on before as well as a host of attending angels eager to meet the one who gave strength and instruction to so many&known as a true defender of the faith. Roy gets the glad hand and back slap from family and friends. He sees his mom and other who are still dear to his soul. He is enjoying each person and returning their joy, yet, as he presses forward through the throng, there is one he is looking for more than any. As he takes a few more steps the crowd starts to dissipate as if they knew just what was going to happen as it had transpired many a time. In a few moments Roy is standing in the very presence of Christ, his King. Jesus is now more than words on a page or an invisible friend, He is awe-inspiringly present. Before Roy can think, say or do anything, Jesus beams and broadcasts with a voice that is meant to signify triumph to all, WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT! The seven words that all men of God want to hear were heard by Roy and drove him to his knees in tears. Christ comes to him, picks him up and hugs him like no other. They have their moment that starts eternity off for Roy. Dear friends while on earth&best friends from now on&.
I can only imagine&

Florann, we were at Rheinland for one year '86 -'87. What a great blessing you both were to our family. God used him in such a mighty way in so many lives.
It is so good to know that we will be able to see him again one day. Florann, do you remember the Sunday afternoon (once each month) lunches at the school for the ones of us who drove a great distance for church? Our prayers continue to be with you and your family. Love in Christ, Carolyn

Dear Mrs. Grigsby & Eastside Church Family, We, here at New Hope, are deeply saddened at the homegoing of Pastor Grigsby. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is now rejoicing at the 'GLORY' he is experiencing in heaven with the Saviour. We have benefited much through Pastor Grigsby's vision, and burden for the Youth Camp. Many lives have been changed through the ministry of the Twin Lakes Christian Camp. Our church has been able to bring young people to the camp for the past 12 years, and only in eternity will we completely know the resulting effects in lives of the many young people who have attended the camp. We will continue to pray for you, your family, & the members of Eastside Baptist, now, and in the days ahead.

Mrs. Grigsby and family, Your husband and father was a wonderful man of the faith and a tremendous preacher of the Word! He will be greatly missed, but most certainly greatly welcomed in Heaven. Although my parents, sister and I were only under Bro. Grigsby's ministry for 1 year at Rheinland Baptist Church (1986-1987), we have so many wonderful memories of you both and felt like we'd known you forever! Will be praying for God's perfect peace and sustaining grace for you in the months ahead. In Christ, Elizabeth (Foster) Taylor

I know he is not suffering any longer and is in a better place, but he will be missed dearly. I have never had a preacher that was so loving and caring (including his wife). My husband was sick for four years and if had not been for these two people, I don't know what I would have done. Preacher carried Walter many a time for me to Charlotte and the visits at home were tremendous. They would come no matter what time of day or night. I am in Florida right now attending Bible college because God used preacher in a miraculous way of showing me where I needed to be. When I had some problems with my family, preacher and Florann were right there to step in and help. Jim, Rob, and Charlene, you have the most almost father there ever was. He used to tell us stories about you all growing up (nothing bad) and you could tell how much he truly loves each of you. I can tell you one thing, you should not question God as to why this had to happen, we all know that one day we will be gone, the most important thing is that we know where preacher is and that is what he always preached-SALVATION! I pray that if anyone reads this, they will know that he lived the life he preached day in and day out. No one is perfect, but he was right on when it came to preaching the Bible. I feel so blessed to have sat under his preaching and that he took the Bible and showed me that I needed to be in Bible college. Preacher will always be in my heart and so will his teachings. I will continue to pray for the family at this time and know that we are all here for you all anytime you need us. Love in Christ, Darlene Shirley
