 Glenn "Uncle Glenn" Collier 88 of Kirbyville, Tx. died at Memorial Specialty Hospital in Lufkin, TX. on Wednesday September 12, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Sunday September 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Erin Missionary Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Magnolia Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be at Forest Oaks Funeral Home Saturday September 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A native of New Blox, Tx. he was born October 31, 1923 to parents George Herman Collier and Velma Glenn Collier and attended school in the Kirbyville ISD after school he joined the CC camp in 1940 and was stationed at Zavalla, TX. where they built Boykin Springs. A member of the US Navy from 1943 until 1946 when he married Elsie Faye Smith and began working for Texaco in Port Arthur, TX. he then returned to the US Navy in 1947 until retirement in 1968 when he moved to Kirbyville, TX. from New London, CT. A long time member of the Nathan Corley lodge #294, he worked for several service stations in the area until working for the Forest Service until retiring at the Kirbyville, TX. office and began working for Texas Electric Coop as a night Watchman until 2002 and went home to farm. Preceded in death by his wife Elsie Faye Collier, a son Eugene Collier and daughter Jo Catherine Collier. Survivors include a son Mike and wife Sandy Atchison of Lumberton, TX. brother Vernon and wife Dorothy Collier of Jasper, TX. brothers-in-law Pete and wife Joyce Smith of Holly Springs Community, Ted and wife Ann Smith of Kirbyville, TX. and Rickey Smith of Jasper, TX. sister-in-law Barbara and husband Calvin Barnett of the Magnolia Springs Community two grandchildren Karen and husband Jonas Wolfe and David Atchison three great grandaughters as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Erin Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund. Services under direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory.
