Herschel “Bud” Guy Thomas, Jr.
WHEELERSBURG-Herschel “Bud” Guy Thomas, Jr., 79, of Wheelersburg, passed away of natural causes Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at SOMC in Portsmouth. Bud was born September 12, 1941 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Herschel and Ruby Rickard Thomas. Bud is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Diane Knowlton Thomas; sons, H.G. (Donna) Thomas and Patrick (Lisa) Thomas and a brother, Charles (Linda) Thomas. In addition, Bud had four grandchildren, Brittany, Brandon, Victoria and Alexander and one great grandchild, Kira and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bud was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge #91. He had a love for the outdoors his entire life, fishing, hunting, archery, camping and shooting at the range were some on his favorites. He was also an avid Ohio State Football and Wheelersburg Pirates fan. Bud retired as a quality control chemist at Sunoco Chemicals and in his retirement years, he enjoyed line dancing, snow birding in Florida and fishing in Canada. In lieu of flowers, his family requests memorial donations be made in Bud’s name to the Wheelersburg M.O.P.S.
Services for Bud will be 4:00 pm Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Perry Prosch officiating. Interment will be 10:00 am Monday, January 25, 2021 at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday 2:00 pm until the 4:00 pm service time.
