John Arthur Kemper
WHEELERSBURG-John Arthur Kemper, 77, of Wheelersburg, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at SOMC ER in Portsmouth. John was born November 27, 1943 in Portsmouth to the late Forrest “Bud” Kemper and Ethel Coriell Kemper. John retired as a Guard/Corrections Officer from SOCF in 1995 after injuries in the riot of 1993 where he was a member of the riot control team. He served in the Marine Corp and was a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Kemper and two sisters, Charlene Cooley and Jean Kallas. John is survived by his wife, Lisa Reed Kemper, whom he married September 7, 1978 in Cherokee, VA. He is also survived by his sons, Dustin Kemper (Heather Horner) and Christopher (Angie) Kemper; a daughter, Whitney (James) Stapleton; a brother, Dave (Joyce) Kemper; a sister, Helen Foster; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
