Wilma “Jean” Bradley Riggs
WHEELERSBURG-Wilma “Jean” Bradley Riggs, 93, of Wheelersburg passed away peacefully Monday, August 30, 2021 at her home with her children by her side. Jean was born February 11, 1928 in Portsmouth, OH to Joseph Bradley and Myrtle Kitchen Bradley. She graduated from Wheelersburg High School in the class of 1946 and spent her life taking care of her home and family. She was a member of the Wheelersburg Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene where she served in various ministries. She also took pride in beautifying her church with her love of cleaning and landscaping. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Freddie “Jack” Riggs in May 2021. She was also preceded by a grandson, Scott Riggs; brothers, Elbert Cyrus, Charles Bradley, Donald Bradley, Clyde Bradley, Robert Bradley and sisters Flossie Oakes and Charlotte Bailey. Jean is survived by a sister, Mabel Hart. She is also survived by a son, David (Susan) Riggs; two daughters, Linda (Dwight) Chamberlin and Judith (Dave) Emnett; grandchildren, David Riggs, Jr., Jill Young, Wes Chamberlin, J.D. Emnett, Luke Emnett and Brooke Skeenes and twenty-three great grandchildren. She also had a special caregiver Melissa Green.
Services for Jean will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Cornerstone Church of Nazarene with Pastor Matt Hancock and J.D. Emnett officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday, 11:00 am until the 1:00 pm service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to SOMC Hospice. Hospice provided excellent care to both Jack and Jean through their nurse Ashley Russell. Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
