Betty Lou Newsom
FRANKLIN FURNACE-Betty Lou Newsom, 82, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Concord Health & Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg. Betty was born April 20, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio to the late Grant and Cora Skaggs Barcus. Betty worked as a sporting goods sales clerk at the former Rink’s from the day it opened until they closed and talked about her co-workers until the end. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Newsom, September 3, 2014, whom she married February 20, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Barcus and a sister, Kathleen Lambert. Betty is survived by two daughters, Wendy Diane (Chris) Payton and Cindy Jo Newsom; a brother, Grant Barcus and a sister, Joyce Barcus Shuck.
Services for Betty will be 1:00 pm Monday, November 29, 2021 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
