Deborah Ann Hughes
FRANKLIN FURNACE-Deborah Ann Hughes, 62, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. Deborah was born December 5, 1959 in Quantico, VA to Shirley Ernst Batdorf and the late Robert Batdorf. Deborah was an avid animal lover, who would rescue or help any animal no matter the species. She has been involved in dog obedience, K-9 training, breeding, dog shows and horses. She owned many animals throughout her life including dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, goats, guinea pigs and her beloved groundhog, Jac. Deborah devoted her life to caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. They were her life’s joy. She especially loved cooking for her family as she was known to some of her grandkids as “cookie mamaw.” In addition to her father, Deborah was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Wellman; a sister-in-law, Diana Batdorf and her beloved family dog, Eddie. Deborah is survived by her mother, Shirley Ernst Batdorf; her husband, Greg Hughes, whom she married April 20, 1985 in Wheelersburg, Ohio; her daughters, Marianne (Mike) Boone, Rebecca (Shawn) Ginn and Brittain (Tyler) Morgan; grandchildren, Gabby, Alyssa, Sydney, Lyla, Lincoln and Cooper; sisters, Kathy, Cindi, Laura and Ruth and her dogs, Theo, Bucky and Pete.
Services for Deborah will be 1:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Interment will be in Haverhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 11:00 am until the 1:00 PM service time. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.

It doesn't seem real. I keep hoping to wake up & it all be a dream. I will always have my memories or my big sister. I love you & miss you so much. My heart breaks for Greg, your daughters and your grandkids. I hope they find comfort in all of they great memories with you. I'm so sorry I'm not able to travel to be there to be there for your service but know you'll always be in my heart. I love you sis!

The world lost a wonderful lady and I lost a friend of close to 40 yrs,that loved animals as much as myself. I will keep alot of funny memories, of our adventures with our pets, the dog shows and flea markets, close to my heart. I will see you again my friend .
