Darlene Gerlach
PORTSMOUTH-On Saturday, April 2, 2022, Darlene (Stonerock) Gerlach, loving wife, “bonus” mom and friend, passed away at Hospice of Central Ohio (James Cancer Center) at the age of 68. Darlene was born on May 6, 1953 in Gary, Indiana to Leroy and Dollie Daugherty. She worked in the banking industry for 38 years before retiring from WesBanco in 2015. During her career, Darlene was a member of various civic organizations.
Darlene enjoyed traveling, casino gaming and shopping. She was best known for her impeccable dress and style, larger-than-life personality, infectious smile, generosity, and her kind and loving spirit. She cared deeply for those around her, greeted everyone with warm exuberance, never knew a stranger and was a friend to many.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Dollie Daugherty; a brother, Gary Daugherty; and, a bonus great-granddaughter, Nora Gerlach. She is survived by her husband Bill; two bonus-children, Bill (Leigh Ann) Gerlach Jr. and Kristi Powell; two brothers, Howard (Kathleen) Daugherty and Allen (Connie) Daugherty; three bonus-grandchildren, Eli (Hannah) Gerlach, Alyssa Gerlach and Ashleigh Powell; and, dear friend, Julie Slezak.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio with interment to follow in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday April 6, 2022 from 10:00 am, to the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sierra’s Haven or St. Jude.

Darlene was one of a kind! Everyone knew her and she knew everyone. One of the kindest people you would ever meet. She will be missed by many. My heart breaks for her family and friends. If Darlene was your friend, she was a friend for life.

I just learned of Darlenes passing. My prayers are for Bill and the entire loving family she left behind. It is very hard to say goodbye to such a precious person. Rejoice in the Lord because you will see her again someday. I loved Darlene as she was a genuine friend. My prayer is that God will give you all, all the strength you need to continue your journey in life.

Darlene was such a delight! Full of personality and she could light up a room with that beautiful smile!! Always had time to stop and chat, no matter when or where. We’ll certainly miss her effervescent spirit! Our deepest condolences to all who loved her.

She was a loving aunt & sister in law when part of our Stonerock family, she loved playing in the yard with the kids when they were young. She showed love to them all. She will always be remembered with a smile??
