Albert G. Schmid

WHEELERSBURG-Albert G. Schmid, 87, of Wheelersburg, passed away peacefully Monday, April 4, 2022, at Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg. Albert was born July 29, 1934 in Scioto County to the late Edwin F. and Elsie Bartlett Schmid. Albert was a High School graduate of Jackson High School and worked on the Schmid Family Apple Orchards in his youth. He was employed as a Boilermaker and worked out of Local 105, and retired from Aristech Chemical, Haverhill, Ohio in 1996. Albert was a life member of Evangelical United Church of Christ and attended Wheelersburg United Methodist Church. He was a 66-year member of Portland Masonic Lodge #366, Oak Hill, Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio; Scottish Rite; El Hasa Shrine; Shriners Hillbilly Clan #1, Outhouse #3 and holds a Commission of Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by Sarah Jane McCann Schmid; a brother, Edwin F. Schmid, Jr. “Sonny” and two sisters, Norma Barber and Janet R. Forsyth. Albert is survived by his wife, Carol Meenach Schmid; a son, A. George and Maura Schmid of Kentucky; daughters, Carol L. Otis, Nancy L. King and Jane A. Walters; step-son, Anthony and Sandra Oberley and step daughter, Anna Katherine and Michael Collier.

Services for Albert will be 1:00 pm Friday, April 8, 2022 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Perry Prosch officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 11:00 am until the 1:00 pm service time. Masonic services for Albert will be conducted at 12:30 pm Friday.
