Hazel Cartee Blackburn
OTWAY-Hazel Cartee Blackburn, 92, of Otway, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Hazel was born March 2, 1930 in Lyra to the late Forrest Wallace Cartee and Susie L. Dutiel Cartee. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Hassel Blackburn, April 11, 2010, whom she married November 14, 1951 in Sciotoville, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Gary, Emil and Harold Cartee and three sisters, Faye Cartee, Lorrena Cartee Henry and Wilma Cartee Gifford. Hazel is survived by two sons, David Blackburn and wife Debbie Blackburn of Chillicothe and Danny Blackburn of Otway; two sisters, Phyllis Cartee Micucci and Mary Cartee Brannigan; five grandchildren, Traci Shnider, Bryan Blackburn, Carissa Vanover, Ashley Blackburn and Alyssa Logan and seven great grandchildren, Jacob, Sydney, Forrest, Wyatt, Gradi, Dylan and Davin.
Services for Hazel will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor George Vastine officiating and interment to follow in Haverhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, October 3, 2022 and one hour before the 11:00 am service on Tuesday.
