Wanda Lee Burton
WHEELERSBURG-Wanda Lee Burton, 82, of Wheelersburg, passed away Monday, October, 17, 2022 at SOMC in Portsmouth. Wanda was born August 23, 1940 in Wheelersburg to the late Carl Mullins and Freda Cook Mullins. Wanda was an educator first, with a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University, followed by a Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling from Xavier University. She also completed her degree in Health Care Administration from Georgetown University. From 1981 to 1999, Wanda was an Owner/Administrator of Golden Years Convalescent Center. She was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Bennington and four brothers, Ralph, Bob, Forrest and Elmer. Wanda is survived by her husband, Richard Burton, whom she married November 26, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. Wanda is also survived by a daughter, Tammy (Virgil) Hightower; three brothers, Sonny, John and Ron Mullins; a sister, Audrey McGinnis, three grandchildren, Heather Starr, Morgan Bennington and Dylan Burton plus three great-grandchildren, Jane, Jon Wyatt and Joe Starr. Wanda was a special lady who will be missed by many.
Services for Wanda will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 21, 2022 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home Friday, from noon until the 2:00 pm service. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery followed by a dinner at the Masonic Temple Lodge in Wheelersburg. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
