Christine Elizabeth Danner (Bihl)Christine Elizabeth Danner (Bihl), 84, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025,

surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1941 in Portsmouth, Ohio, and raised on the

Bihl family farm in Wheelersburg, Ohio, Christine was a woman of incredible strength,

dedication, and warmth. She graduated from Wheelersburg High School and Mercy

Hospital School of Nursing, and married her childhood sweetheart, John Danner.

Together, they built a life in Portsmouth. As a nurse, Christine was known for her

compassionate care and tireless work ethic. Her nursing career spanned nearly 50

years at Mercy Hospital and Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

Her family was always at the center of Christine’s world. She was a devoted daughter,

wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Christine’s love for her children and grandchildren

was boundless. Whether it was making countless trips between Portsmouth and

Cincinnati to visit her grandkids, hosting family events, or simply sharing a fun

impromptu moment, she made sure that family came first. Her warmth, laughter, and

zest for life touched everyone she met. She was always on the move, ready for the next

adventure.

She is survived by her husband John Danner; children Kim (Chris) Koenig, John Danner

Jr., and Amy (Frank Melendez) Danner; grandchildren Caroline (Steve), Margot, Jed,

Josefina, Gabriela, sisters Katherine Holbrook, Donna (Tim) Conley, brother-in-law Larry

Burgess, and many other family members and friends who were fortunate to know her.

She is preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Anne Bihl (Stockner), father Raymond

Joseph Bihl, stepmother Thelma Bihl (Bolton), sister Linda Burgess, and brother-in-law

Roger Holbrook.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11 AM at St. Peter in Chains

Catholic Church, 2167 Lick Run-Lyra Rd., Wheelersburg, OH 45694, followed by a

Catholic funeral mass at 1:00 PM. A private burial will be held after the mass. Friends

and loved ones are invited to attend a reception at St. Peter’s following the burial. In

lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (https://alzfdn.org/

donate/).

Christine lived her life with love, laughter, and an unshakable energy. Her presence will

be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her
