Janice Merle ParlinJanice Merle (Creamer) Parlin, 91, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026. She was born on May 19, 1935, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Dorothy (Stringer) and James Creamer. In 1953, Janice met the love of her life, James Parlin, while he was serving in the Navy. The couple married in 1954 and recently celebrated an extraordinary 72 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home in Wheelersburg, Ohio, where they raised their family and created countless cherished memories. Janice was a woman of many talents and passions. A skilled quilter and seamstress, she was an active member of a local quilt club, crafting beautiful quilts that have become treasured heirlooms. Her creativity also shone in the kitchen, where she was known for her exceptional culinary skills and her famous cheese ball—a favorite among family and friends. Family was central to Janice’s life. She is survived by her brother John Creamer of Norton, Massachusetts; her children Cynthia Quillen; David Parlin and his wife Jan Parlin; Pamela Tilley; and Christine Fannin and her husband Paul Fannin. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Lynsay Tschirhart (husband Brian Tschirhart), Chris Vicars (wife Rachel Vicars), Josh Parlin (wife Becca Parlin), Justin Parlin (wife Kendra Parlin), Adam Parlin (wife Nickey Parlin), Curtis Parlin, Julianna Neal (husband Zach Neal), Aaron Tilley (wife Amber Tilley), Amanda Tilley, Ethan Fannin, and Monica Fannin. Additionally, Janice was blessed with 18 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. She was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and James Creamer; her sister Barbara Frederick; and her brother Jimmy Creamer. Janice’s warmth, creativity, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her quilts will continue to tell stories of love for generations to come. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her. A funeral service will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, 11623 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH with Pastor Roy Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Burial Park. There will be no public visitation and doors will be opened at 1:30pm.
