Clara (Massie) Kolmel, 95, of Wheelersburg, OH, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at SOMC Hospice. She was born August 15, 1931, in Chattaroy, WV to the late James and Margaret (Heath) Canupp and also preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Massie, April 29, 1994, and her second husband, Robert Kolmel, August 19, 2020.
Clara was a 1949 graduate of Williamson High School in Mingo County WV. She worked as the Guidance Secretary for the Wheelersburg School District. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers: James Canupp Jr., Boyce Canupp and a stepson: Bobby Kolmel.
Those left to celebrate her life are a son: Kenneth (Mary) Massie; a stepdaughter: Raenee Franklin; a sister: Sylvia (Bobby) Rotenberry; three grandchildren: Kendra (Brandon) Coleman, Derek (Caitlyn) Massie and Clay (Hannah) Massie; five great grandchildren: Bo Massie, Maddox Coleman, Kit Massie, Maizy Coleman and Emmett Massie.
A funeral service will be at 7:00pm, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, 11623 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH with her grandson, Derek Massie, officiating.
