John Gordon Leslie, age 70, passed away on March 7th in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his family. Born July 19, 1955, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Raymond and Hattie Leslie.
John spent his working years as a skilled drywall craftsman, a trade he took great pride in. In 1973, he married the love of his life, and together, they shared 39 years of marriage and built a life filled with highs and lows, growth and change, family and flea-marketing. Above all, he was a devoted father and a proud pappaw, roles he cherished deeply, and carried out with love and dedication.
John was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife, Betty Jane (Steele) Leslie; his parents, Raymond and Hattie Leslie; great-grandchildren, Pheonix and Paxton; siblings, David Leslie, James Leslie, Paul Leslie, and Jean Blair.
He is survived by his children, John (Heather) Leslie of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, Frank (Sherry) Leslie of Circleville, Ohio, and Chrissy (Vaughn) Steinmetz of Pataskala, Ohio; grandchildren, Ashleigh Leslie, Aimee (Samuel) Monterroso, Abbie (Shea) Goss, Hanna and Faith Leslie, Chelsie and Jonathan Steinmetz; great-grandchildren, Ariella, Evelynn, and Olsen; siblings, Ethel Yarnell, Barbara Payne, Linda Evans, Brenda (Rick) Hartlage, and Kevin (Merrill) Leslie; a committed companion of 13 years, Christina Terry, her daughters, Kaylynne Aubin (Drako, Iris, and Atlas) and Sara Terry; step-grandchildren, Josh (Emily) McCormack, Jonathan (Mikayla) Rutter, Hope (Benjamin) Ayers, Heather (Drew) Baldwin; step-great grandchildren, Lillian, Samual, Laiden, Caiden, Grace, Mia, Karson, Jovalean, Laikyn, and Bryer; in addition, two sisters in-law, Genevieve Wright and Anita Mills; a special cousin, Shirley Moore; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 11th at Harrison Pyles Funeral Home - 11623 Gallia Pike Wheelersburg, OH 45694. Calling hours will begin at 11am and a service following at 1pm, with Pastor Jeff Leslie officiating.
