Opal M. Lloyd, age 87, of Gallipolis, died Sunday morning March 11, 2007 at Holzer Medical Center. Born May 22, 1919 at McDaniels Crossroads in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Parnie Alice Wickline Miller.
Opal was a graduate of Cadmus High School; she attended Rio Grande College, and received her degree in education from Wilmington College.
Her teaching career spanned 37 years, starting in Perry Elementary School. She then moved into secondary education at Cadmus High School, then Centerville High School until its closing, and finally South-Western High School from where she retired in 1975.
Upon retirement her pride and joy was the 27 years she spent with the Chaplaincy program at Holzer Medical Center and Holzer Senior Care Center. She also spent many hours visiting with those who needed a friend, and someone to visit with.
Opal was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, The Gallia County Retired Teachers Association, The Order of Eastern Star, the Gallia County Historical Society and the Gallia County Genealogical Society.
She is survived by her husband William H. ‘Bill’ Lloyd who she married on December 25, 1954 in Centerville.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday March 13, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church, with Pastors Bob Powell, Doug Stockton, Bill Thomas and Jay Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home on Monday from 5-8 PM. and at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 AM. Until time of service.
Pallbearers will be: Dwight Lloyd, Kevin Lloyd, Greg Spees, Aaron Kamer, Don Wolthe Jr. and Hayden Lloyd.
