Otis Oney Lear, age 66, of Vinton, died Friday evening March 30, 2007 at Holzer Medical Center. Born June 4, 1940 in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Virgil and Pearl Wells Lear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Brian O. Lear, by a brother, Richard Lear and by a sister, Maxine Wallace.

Otis was a union laborer, a member of Laborers Local #423 in Columbus. He was a member of Calvary Christian Center, and was a member of the River Country Band.

He is survived by:

4 Children: Donald A. (Regenia) Lear of Laurelville

Anita Diane (Robert) Rosenberger of Laurelville

Sandra E. (Randy) Roberts of Laurelville

Jeremiah D. Lear of Columbus

5 Grandchildren: Mitch Adams, Garrett Rosenberger, Michael Shawn Good, Seth Roberts, and Gavin Roberts

Former Wife: Cleo Whitt Lear of Laurelville

3 Brothers and Sisters: Wilber (Alma) Lear of Dayton

Russell Lear of Vinton

Bernice (Allen) Brothers of Bidwell

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Tuesday April 3, 2007 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, with Pastors Denny King, Terry Hale, and T.W. Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mercerville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 PM.

For Russell, I think of your alot, I am so sorry to hear of Otie's passing, Please know that he is so much better off than we. I know you will miss him terribly. Remember to good times. He was a wonderful person. May God truly comfort you in the days to come as you go on with your life, you will miss him in everything you do. God bless, Pauline

Diane and Rob, family, God is good all the time. After due time he will heal your heart of all the pain you are going through. He gives us time to greive our loss, it is important to go through this process. God can heal the hurt you and your sblings are expeirencing if you will gve it to him. Be encouraged, your dad is probably singing with the angels right now. Diane, I am very proud of you, always follow God's ways ,for His is the right way.We love all of you and you are in our prayers. Diane, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I know how much you helped your Dad and how much you loved him and he loved you. Diane, Don, Sandy, Jeremiah, Bernice, Russell, Wilber and famlies. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We know how hard this is on all of you. Otis stood by us when we lost Richard. He was going through the same pain but he took time to be there for Adam and I and it was greatly appreciated. He will be missed by all of whom he touch their lives.
