James Hamilton Crace Sr, 90, of Vinton passed away October 14, 2009 at his residence. Jim was born December 16, 1918 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky to the late James Emmett and Mary Ellen Young Crace. He was Deputy Sheriff for the Gallia County Sheriffs Office with 26 years service after which he continued as a volunteer. Jim was a World War II Veteran serving in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He was also a member of the DAV of Cincinnati, and Gallipolis VFW Post 4464 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Gallipolis.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Williams Crace, November 27, 2004, and by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his children Jack E. (Paula) Crace of Vinton, Ohio and James H. (Jane) Crace Jr., of Racine, Ohio, Beatrice A. (Larry) Sayre of Carson City, Nevada and Wanda (Bob) Quire of Dayton, Ohio and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2009 at McCoy Moore Funeral Home Gallipolis Chapel, with Rev. Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in the Vinton Memorial Park Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organizations.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Ohio Valley Christian School 455 Third Ave Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
