1949 - 2023
 Larry Lawton Ellis, 73, of Huntington, WV, passed away in Springfield, OH, on March 4, 2023. He was preceded in death by parents, Don and Zula Ellis, and wife, Melanie Rollyson Ellis. He is survived by sister, Trina Smith, and special brother-in-law, Don Smith; nephew, Joshua Smith; close cousins Blanche Mayo, Rema Manns (Frank), and Teresa Catanzarite; and dear friend and companion, Brenda Saunders, of Springfield, OH, with whom he formed a special bond over the last four years. Larry was a proud graduate of Huntington East High School, class of 1967. His lifelong passion was music, which he loved to share with family and friends, who have many fond memories of time spent listening to albums and recording cassettes. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Marshall football and basketball, and he always loved to cheer on the Herd. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. with Dr. Tim Yates officiating. Larry was a blessing for my dear friend Brenda Saunders. He came to Springfield for a visit and ended up watching over her and caring for her. I believe that he saved her from a very dark place. I will be forever in his debt.
