Maxwell Gene Porter

WHEELERSBURG-Maxwell Gene Porter, 93, of Wheelersburg passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Maxwell was born March 7, 1931 in Ashland, KY to the late Clyde Porter and Thelma Grizzle Porter. Maxwell was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW; worked as an Installer at Verizon GTE and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, Maxwell was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence, Gerald, Jerry, Jackie, and John Porter; a sister, Betty Rollins and a daughter-in-law, Jayne Porter. He is survived by his wife, Alberta June Arnold Porter whom he married January 29, 1952 in Portsmouth. He is also survived by a son, Steven Porter; a daughter, Regina (Mark) Lockhart; two brothers, Daniel and Donnie Porter; a sister, Karen Sue Roberts; five grandchildren, Kevin Richardson, Kyle Richardson, Shannon Gregory, Michael Kline and Kayla Kenard and seven great grandchildren.

Services for Maxwell will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Rick Arthur officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 11:00 am Tuesday until the 1:00 pm service. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with Military Rites by the James Irwin Post. I won't forget all the times you took me fishing and the time you played baseball with me in your backyard. Plus all of our grass cutting adventures at the church. I love you grandpa. Rest easy. Thanks for all the memories.

So sorry for your family’s loss, Gene was a wonder person that I have many memories of, and what fun us kids always had being apart of a Church family, time goes by to fast. Miss and love you all.
