Garnet Lee Hughes, 81, of De Graff, died at 1:00 PM Monday, January 10, 2011, at her home in De Graff.
She was born June 13, 1929, in Denton Co., KY, a daughter of the late Hillman and Nolda Mae Kitchen Burke. On October 25, 1946, she married Challie Malcome Hughes in Ashland, KY and he survives.
Other survivors include, three Daughters; Shirley (Jay) James of New Breman, Debra (Tom) Schaffner, and Jackie Dorsey both of De Graff, three Sisters; Ruby (Harold) Short of De Graff, Janet (Bill) Barker of Flatwoods, KY and Louise Porter of Raceland, KY, seven grandchildren; Chad (Tami) James, Elizabeth (Dustin) Lange both of New Breman, Challie (Larry) Goings, Misty (Todd) Stryker, Nathan Richter all of De Graff, Zack (Misty) Clary of Bellefontaine and Ashleigh James of Savannah, GA. and nine great grandchildren.
She retired as a Welder at Copeland Corporation in Sidney after 25 years.
She was also an avid crafter and quilter. She came to Madison Co., OH in 1948 from KY. and then moved to De Graff in 1964.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, with Pastor Anthony Krummrey officiating. The Family will recieve friends at the funeral home Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Universal Home Health and Hospice.
