Mary JoAnn Weeks

Mary JoAnn Weeks, 78, of DeGraff, died at 1:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, in Mary Rutan Hospital.

Born Dec. 19, 1928, in Bellefontaine, she was a daughter of the late Loren Richey and Mary Catherine Persinger Foulk. She married Ralph Eugene Weeks on June 22, 1947, in DeGraff. He died July 7, 2002.

Survivors include sons, Bruce (Cynda) Weeks and Gary (Juanita) Weeks, both of DeGraff; a daughter, Patty (Gary) Furrow of DeGraff; grandchildren, Shelly (Chad) Perk, Kerri (Ed) Hoffmeier, Jenni (Troy) Stratton, Cody Weeks and Justin Weeks; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sandra (Ed) Nydam of Urbana and Judi (Milton) Mitchell of Charlotte, N.C.

A homemaker, she was a member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women and served on various church committees. She was a long-time Miami Township election poll worker and liked to cook, read and spend time with family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Timothy Furrow and Kimberly Furrow.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff where the service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Julia L. Ronngren officiates and burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.

To all the kids, our thoughts and prayers are with you as we know how the feelings are at this time. We have been friends for many years and, even though we can't be with you, you know our hearts are breaking to hear such news about your mom. We will keep you close as God will comfort you also.

Dear Bruce,Cynda,Gary,Patty and Family, Patty and I wish to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of your Mom. It seems like just yesterday that we sat around that big table in the kitchen enjoying one of her famous home-cooked meals. JoAnn always made me feel like one of the family.
