Aurilla McWhorter affectionately known as “Peaches” was born the (2nd ) child of the late William Williams and Hattie Banks Williams on August 27, 1910 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
“Peaches” died at home on September 29, 2007. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by three daughters, Phyllis English, Helen Anderson, and Donna L. Collins, three husbands, Alonzo Armstrong, Elmer King, and Dewitt McWhorter, a brother, Clarence Williams, and a sister, Helen Porter.
“Peaches” was a charter member of the Triedstone Baptist Church in Gallipolis and a member of the choir.
“Peaches” leaves to cherish her loving and unforgettable memory, her devoted children, Alonzo (Frances) Armstrong, William (Kathy) Armstrong, and Hattie Reed along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and two sisters in law, Pearl King Scott, and Bernice King.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Wednesday October 3, 2007 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, with Rev. Gene Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM. Until the time of service.
