Pearl Elliott Burchett, age 96, of Gallipolis, died Thursday December 27, 2007 at Holzer Assisted Living Center in Gallipolis. Born December 22, 1911 in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late Rev. H.M. Smith and the late Edith Boggess Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by two husbands, Rev. Emmett E. Elliott, and Rev. J.H. Burchett., by a grandson Jerry Evans, by five brothers, Gallias, Sterling, Carl, Paul Arthur, and Truman, and by four sisters, Lillian, Ruth, Mary Agnes, and Bertha.
Pearl worked for Dr. Francis Shane for many years. She was a life long member of the First Church of God, where she served as choir director for many years. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher, served on several boards and committees and was active in the Women of the First Church of God. She also served for many years as a volunteer at Holzer Medical Center.
She is survived by :
Daughter: Yvonne (Pete) Nibert of Keowee Key South Carolina,
Granddaughter: Janie (John) Kantner of Canal Winchester, Ohio,
Grandson: Larry (Anita) Evans of Lancaster
Great Grandchildren: Bailey and Brendan Kantner of Canal Winchester, and Daniel Evans of Lancaster
Sister: Edith Taylor of Spring Hill, Florida
Step Children: Jim (Carolyn) Burchett, Joyce Humphries, Dick Burchett and Sharon.
Pearl had been faithfully attended by her Niece, Jean Saunders for the last five years.
She was also survived by several nieces and nephews including Rusty (Connie) Saunders and their son Nick.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Sunday December 30, 2007 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Pastor Paul Voss and Pastor James Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
