To the children of Elwyn Johnson: I worked with your Dad on the railroad for a few years and thought he was one of the finest men that I have ever met. I was a train dispatcher and I knew if Elwyn was "behind the wheel" that I would not have any trouble out of that train. I was blessed & I am thankful to have known Elwyn. I live 1 1/2 hr from Barboursville and cannot make it to the services but my thoughts and prayers are with you. Tammy Osborne Swiney

My heart fell when I opened the paper this morning. I have not seen Mr. Johnson for a couple of months but I knew that his health was failing. Even at that time he was smiling and had that little laugh in his voice. I was with him at the beginning of his multiple surgeries. He came back to me often, not to keep me upgraded about him, but to check on the progression of my daughter who had been dx with a tumor. I have taken care of hundreds of patients but due to his caring for me, I was blessed with learning more about the values and caring that this special man shared , I'm sure not only with me but also with many others. I know that he will be greatly missed.

We had the opportunity to visit your dad several times over the years when visiting in Huntington, the last time we had beakfast at Bob Evans. He always seemed sad after your mother passed away but still had that contageous smile and humor. We are sure there was a great celabration as he was welcomed home by his beloved Ludy and other loved ones. May the Lord bless your family and we know you will miss him as will we all.

Just wanted all of you to know we are thinking about you, and wish we could be there with you. Growing up in WV I have so many memories of Elwyn and of course Ludy. I still remember when I was little actually seeing Elwyn wave to us from the train. Even though he was really my cousin I always thought of him as "Uncle Elwyn". I'm glad we got to see him the last time we were in WV. He could always make you laugh. Hopefully all of us cousins can get together sometime. Love, Carol & Rodger
