Roy Thurman ThompsonROY THURMAN THOMPSON, 79, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Monday, September 13, 2010, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev'd Monty Brown. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Wayne County, W.Va. He was born November 23, 1930, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Boyd and Viola Tomblin Thompson. He was a retired carpenter, a former employee of Houdaille Industries and a retired employee of Adel Fastners Inc. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, having received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW. He was a member of Lynn Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Reba Emogene Ray Thompson, a sister Donna Nicholas and two brothers Julius "Jack" Thompson and Billy Hubert Thompson. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev'd Thurman David Thompson and his wife Jane Thompson of Man, W.Va. and Rev'd Bart R. Thompson and his wife Rev'd Martha Ognibene of Piedmont, W.Va.; five grandchildren Jennifer Webb, Allison Webb, Adrienne Ognibene, Kelsey Ognibene and James Ognibene, three great-grandchildren Tyler Webb, Marcus Webb and Marley Webb; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Thompson of Lavalette, W.Va. and Boyd Thompson Jr. and his wife Irene Thompson of Hillsboro, W.Va.; a sister Thelma Queen of Lavalette, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. Military graveside rites will be conducted. Contributions may be made to the Lynn Chapel United Methodist Church, 5615 Lynn Creek Road, Huntington, WV 25704, or to the Thompson-Ognibene Scholarship Fund, 900 Washington Street, East, Charleston, WV 25301. Pallbearers will be Brent Ray, Bruce Ray, Don Davis, Robert Davis, Jim Reed and Terry Zihlman. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/reger

I'm sorry to hear that you lost a brother, Boyd. And a sister, too, who died about a month later. I know it's a hard time for you. My own sister died a couple of years ago. I hope things go well with your family from here on out. Look forward to Heaven and see them again there.

I wish to express condilences to the family Thurman has be a family friend for many years. A lot of us from the Crockett school will always remember all the time spent at Crockett With the whole Thompson Family.
