Jack Lee ComerJack Lee Comer, 86, of De Graff, passed away at 12:20 PM Saturday, February 25, 2012.

He was born near East Liberty on March 31, 1925, a son of the late Levi Franklin and Wanda Lee Hatcher Comer. He was also preceded in death by a son; Alan, three brothers; Ernest, Jess and Leroy Comer and two sisters; Nellie Comer and Gladys Hudson.

On April 4, 1959, he married Connie Lou Amos in De Graff and she passed away June 23, 1992.

Survivors include a son; Doug (Kim) Comer of De Graff, a daughter; Luann (Tom) Schmitmeyer of Jackson Center, and four grand children; Meredith and Heather Comer and Morgan and Levi Schmitmeyer and numerous nieces and nephews.

A 1943 graduate of De Graff High School, Jack served in the U.S. Army (1943-1946) in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge Campaign having attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He also served in the U.S. Air Force (1948-1953) during the Korean War where he was a Staff Sergeant and Flight Engineer on B-29's. For over 40 years he co-owned Comer Brothers Plumbing and Heating with his brother Roy. Upon retiring he worked at Tree Links Golf Course and enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid trap shooter and a life member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. His proudest personal achievement was winning the Veterans Division in the Trap and Field Handicap at the 93rd Grand American Trapshoot. He was a 65 year member of Boggs Lodge # 292 F.&A.M., De Graff, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, a 60 year and founding member of Miami Valley Post #652, American Legion, De Graff, a 48 year member and current President of the Board of Directors of the Citizens Bank of De Graff, a founding and lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #3528, Quincy, a member of the Elks Lodge 132, Bellefontaine, a retired member of the De Graff Fire Department, having served as Chief for a number of years.

His body has been cremated at his request and private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Denny Brown officiating and burial of his ashes will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff with the Logan County Honor Guard providing Military Honors.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to American Legion Post # 652 or Boggs Lodge #292 F. & A.M. in care of Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, De Graff, OH 43318.

sorry to hear of the passing of jack lee comer. i believe he was the last cousin of his generation in the families of wanda lee hatcher comer. my grandmother iva hatcher coats was a sister to wanda. would love to hear from family as i dabble in genealogy. again my sincere sympathy. judy wallace p o box 345 andover, oh 44003
