Gladys Retha ThompsonGladys Retha Thompson, 92, of Urbana and formerly of Quincy, died at 5:20 PM Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Dorothy Love in Sidney.

She was born November 20, 1919, in Champaign Co., a daughter of the late John and Faye Goode Buck.

On March 13, 1940, she married Fred Carl Thompson in Urbana and he died September 13, 1999. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; Rose Marie and two sisters; Bonnie Roberts and Florence Smail.

She is survived by a daughter; Rita Huber of Zephyrhills, FL, two sons; Phil (Carol) Thompson of Urbana and Ron (Brenda) Thompson of Sidney, a grandson; Brent (Alice) Klauss of Bryan, TX, four granddaughters; Jennifer (Jim) Music of North Lewisburg, Stefanie Blue of Lakeside, CA, Michele (Danny) Pass of Lutz, FL and Karen (Jamey) Mahan of St. Paris, and nine great grand children; Austin and Keller Klauss, Tyler Blue, Madison and Victoria Music, Owen Pass, and Derek, Lindsey, and Logan Mahan.

A Homemaker, she enjoyed her children and grandchildren, gardening, cooking and helping her husband farm. She was a member of the Springhills Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, De Graff on Thursday, March 1, 2012 beginning at noon with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Jane Madden officiating. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.

In lieu of flowers and in appreciation of the care she received the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Dorothy Love Employee Christmas Fund.

we are very sorry to hear of your loss. Gladys was a great neighbor of ours. She will be sadly missed. She was a wonderful person and we visited her often as our kids did also. You are in ours prayers.
