Warren W. (Jerry) Smith, 90, of Bellefontaine and formerly of the Quincy and De Graff area died at 10:52 PM Friday, April 13, 2012, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
He was born November 10, 1921, in De Graff, a son of the late Hamer Wright and Lydia G. Long Smith.
On May 28, 1944, he married June Katherine Mustard in Columbus and she died September 3, 2001. He was also preceded in death by a Brother; Hamer Max Smith and a Sister; Wilma Van Horn.
Survivors include three Sister; Wanda Schmidt and Edith (Harold K.) Turner both of De Graff and Ruth (Richard) Beard of Huntsville, a Sister-in-Law; Yvonne F. Smith of De Graff and Several Nieces and Nephews.
A retired Farmer, he was a member of Rum Creek United Methodist Church, the Logan County Agrarian Club and was a 1940 graduate of Lewistown High School. He served as a Bloomfield Twp Trustee for many years and then served as a Logan County Commissioner for 12 years. He enjoyed horse racing and traveling. He especially enjoyed visiting Holmes County.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 16, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, De Graff. Services will then be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Dawn Swartz officiating. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Rum Creek United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
