Marie Spradlin
Franklin Furnace-Marie Spradlin, 95, of Franklin Furnace passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, OH. Marie was born February 18, 1923 in Oil Springs, KY to the late Hobart and Stella Pennington Blanton. Marie was a homemaker and belonged to Candy Run Regular United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Spradlin, May 2, 1991, whom she married April 2, 1938 in Paintsville, KY. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Milua and Mabel and a son-in-law, Tim. Marie is survived by three sons, Tom (Gay) Spradlin, Ted (Connie) Spradlin and Tony (Kathy) Spradlin; a daughter, June Sierer; four brothers, Curtis, Calvin, Calahan and Carmen Blanton; three sisters, Mavis Burton, Meda Reese and Mamie Adkins; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and sixteen great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, OH, with Pastor Dan Widdig and Pastor Aaron Reed officiating with interment to follow in Clapboard Cemetery on Rt. 522. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 20, 2018 and one hour before the service on Wednesday. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Marie’s name, to SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, OH.
