Ronald Eugene Ratliff, Sr.

Franklin Furnace-Ronald Eugene Ratliff, Sr., 80, of Franklin Furnace passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Ohio. Ronald was born August 11, 1938 in Minford, Ohio to the late Maynard and Bonnie Montgomery Ratliff. Ronald was a Wheelersburg High School graduate; a US Army veteran and a member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge #91. He had worked as a Construction Technician with Southwest Gas and he was a member of Dogwood Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents Ronald was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Hamilton; son-in-law, Doug Kimsey and sister-in-law, Martina Arthur. Ronald is survived by his wife, Wanda Mae DeBoard Ratliff, whom he married April 9, 1960. Also surviving are two sons, Ronald Eugene “Gene” (Sandra) Ratliff, Jr. and Steve M. (Tammy) Ratliff; a daughter, Selena Kimsey; a brother, Delmar Ratliff; three sisters, Ruth Roe, Sharon Davis and Kathy Holbrook; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, October 19, 2018 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Jeremy Moore officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military honors by American Legion James Dickey Post #23. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, October 18, 2018 and one hour before the service on Friday. A Masonic service will be held at the funeral home 8:00 pm on Thursday. The family has requested Memorial contributions be made in Ronald’s name to SOMC Hospice.
