Irene Maynard, 91, of Proctorville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at home. Funeral service will be conducted 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Rev. Don Irby. Burial will follow in Cyrus Cemetery, Pritchard, West Virginia. Irene was born January 15, 1912, in Coal Grove, OH, daughter of the late Jerry and Bertha Fortner Thacker. Irene was a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Kiah Maynard, daughter June Snyder, and sister Fern Murphy. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Eldon and Lucy Maynard of Chesapeake, Kenneth and Chris Maynard of Chesapeake, and Walter and Judy Maynard of Waverly, OH; one daughter, Loretta Layman of Proctorville; one brother and sister-in-law, Leo “Bud” and Hastie Thacker of Proctorville, OH; one sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Frelin Staley of Huntington, WV; 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday, December 29, 2003 at Hall Funeral Home, 625 St. Rt. 775, Proctorville, Ohio. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Huntington.
