1952 - 2008
Richard Lee Ferris, 56, of Proctorville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday August 24, 2008 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Mr. Ferris was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1952, son of Nora Mae Ferris of Proctorville, Ohio and the late Edward L. Ferris. Mr. Ferris was a retired cable TV lineman and also worked as a welder in Newport News, VA. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved hunting, fishing, and farming. He is survived by four brothers and their families: Eddie and Mickie Ferris of Willow Wood, OH, Charlie and Vivian Ferris of Missoula, Montana, Marvin and Tammy Ferris of Chesapeake, OH, and Kenny Ferris and Sherry Edwards of Proctorville, OH; three sisters and their families: Edie and Doug Barr of Rex, Georgia, Denise Niecee McMillian of Proctorville, OH, and Tammy Lovette and the late Scott Lovette of Edgewater, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ferris will be sadly missed by all who knew him including three special friends, Jim and Ann Bailey of Chesapeake,OH, and Harvey Danford of Athalia, OH. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 11 A.M. Tuesday August 26, 2008 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Rev. Eddie Salmons. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Ferris family, we are so sorry for your loss. Ricky was a great bother to have and great son to have a great uncle to have we was in all a great man. I know you all will miss him alot. Our thoughts are always with you all. God bless you all!!!

To all of the family, my sister was able to post a condolence before me and I thank her very much. We are sorry for everyone in the family and those who knew him. It is hard for me to sit and write this as we have tried to get my sister (Stephanie) and I to at least get to know him and the rest of the family. I truly have great sympathy for everyone around him and close to him. Now we, my sister and I, will never know the answers to the many questions that he leaves behind. I am not sure if he knew but he was a grandfather, there was a total of 5 grandchildren. Our only wish for the past 16 years since I found him in Ohio was to get to know him. And now we can not. By blood we are Richard Lee Ferris's children. I, Rhonda Lee Ferris-Pruitt was born to Richard Lee Ferris June 11, 1971 and my sister Stephanie Rose Ferris-Miller was born November 28,1973. I can only hope he can rest in peace.

Those of you that got to know him I am sure will miss him. There are parts of his "family" that he never took the time to get to know, even tho WE tried...for years...we still after all these years can't even get acknowledged. I feel for those of you that did know him...I'm sure he was probably a good man...maybe he could've tried to be a better dad.
