Arthur Franklin Romans, 90, of Chesapeake, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born July 24, 1921 in Hode, KY son of the late Melvin Lee and Dixie Romans. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Kelly Romans; two sisters Lena Stepp and Ernestine Stepp; one brother Clifford Romans; and one great grandson Jacob Thacker. He is survived by one daughter Penny (Jimmie) Thacker of South Point, Ohio; two sons Arthur Zane(Diana) Romans of Ashland, KY and George S. (Melissa) Romans of Chesapeake, Ohio; 7 grandchildren Jonathan (Stacey) Thacker, Daniel (Harper) Thacker, Kristin Thacker, US Air Force Major Timothy (Amber) Romans, Katie Romans, Kelly Romans, and Clairynn Romans; four great grandchildren Trenton Thacker, Wyatt Thacker, Liam Thacker and Collin Thacker; brother-in-law Kenneth Kingery; sister-in-law Doris Kelly; nieces and nephews Scott and Jay Romans, Marcella Stepp. He was a member of New Valley Missionary Baptist Church and a retired teacher from Fairland School District. He was WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 2761, American Legion Post #806, and AMVETS, of whom all will conduct military graveside rites.. He also graduated from Marshall College. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Larry Comer. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Willow Wood, Ohio. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Penny, Pete and George, My deepest regards. So sorry I didn't know until last night. Arthur and Betty were two of my favorite people in the world. On Oct. 31st my daughter ,Kala and I, were talking about Arthur. When she went to the birthday party at Penny's and rode the horses and I was honored to make his cake. This message is from myself but also from the S.P. Class of 1969,we have lost two wounderful teachers this week Mr. Romans and Mr. Tom Beard. Are prayers goes go to your family! I had Mr. Romans for Math Class along with many other 69ers! He was loved by all who new and had him as a teacher and friend! I enjoyed his class so much as did so many others! He was missed when he left S.P. and he will be miss now again! May our prayers be with you from all of us The Class of 1969, South Point
