Patricia Ellen Varney was born November 13, 1952 in Huntington, West Virginia. She was one of three children born to parents Don and Juanita Salyers. While residing in the Westmoreland area she graduated from Vinson High School where she was a member of the acclaimed Tigerette Majorette Team. She later attended Rutledge College in Huntington. She married Robert S. Varney and spent the next forty (40) years of her life with him. They move and lived in Lorain County Ohio, outside of Cleveland, for a number of years. While there she worked at Hills Department Store and attended the Lorain County Community College. While there she was a member of the First Congregational Church of North Ridgeville. After moving back to Huntington, she worked for a while at Cabell Huntington Hospital and often attended Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. Patricia made her transition from this earthly life on December 23, 2020 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington. She was preceded in death by both parents as well a sister-in-law, Deborah. Left to cherish fond memories are her husband, Robert; children Bryan Salyers and wife Cherie of Ohio, Mark Varney, and Marissa Varney of Huntington, in addition to Cristy Mills, Jennifer, and niece Erin (who were like a daughters to her) and Aaron; siblings Don Salyers and Sandra Wilson; grandchildren, Brittany (Tyler), Bethany (Cody), Bryan Lee, Breanna, and Lucian along with Jermeriah and Akeelan; seven great-grand-children, brothers-in-laws Carl, Danny, Billy, Ronnie, Johnnie, David, and Donald Varney and sisters-in-law Alisa Schiller and Angela and Judy Varney; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. In addition, she was blessed with a “sister-like” life-long best friend, Debbie Play Brown. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
