Russell Belknap, 70, of Burnsville, WV, left this world on February 25, 2021. He was born on September 30, 1950 in Braxton County, WV. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Hillard and Ethel Belknap; Brother Denver Belknap; Sisters Betty Bly and Mary Duckworth; and his soul mate, Desta Norris. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Belknap of Chapin, SC; Brothers Robert (Doris) Belknap of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Ronald (Sandra) Belknap of Sutton; Sisters Waveline Young, Clearwater, FL, and Paulette (Tom) Hodges, Athens, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. Russ was a graduate of Sutton High School and a retired member of Laborer's Local 984 out of Clarksburg. Russ was an animal lover--he had a closer relationship with his late dog, Pal, than probably any member of his family. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, all kinds of music, and re-purposing finds from yard sales into useful and lovely objects. Russ liked his alone time but was an entertaining companion. He was always available to help when his brothers and sisters needed him. He had a wonderful, dry, self-deprecating wit about him. He will be missed by his friends and family. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at WVU Ruby Memorial (SICO) for the wonderful care they provided Russ, Hospice of Huntington, WV for their short, but much appreciated assistance. Thanks also to Allen Bly and Allyson Bly Moore. Special thanks to his stepdaughter, Christine Norris Rigsby, Fred Rigsby, and Mikel Norris. Russ' wishes were to be cremated. A remembrance with the family will be planned at a later date. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
