1938 - 2021

Billy Joe BurgessBilly Joe Burgess (Joe) 82 of Chesapeake, Ohio, went home to be with the lord on Saturday, March 6th, passing peacefully at St. Marys Medical Center. Joe was born October 30th, 1938 to the late Vivian and Leon Adams, raised in Huntington, West Virginia. Joe was preceeded in death by his father and mother-in-law North and Sara West; his sister, Diane Booth, as well as his only child, Deborah (Debbie) Burgess Rann. He is survived by his love of his life, his wife, Clarice Ann Burgess, His sister, Yvonne Conley, Son in law David L. Rann, his grandsons William J. (Joe) Michaels wife Meghan, Nicholas (Nick) B. Michaels Wife Alexandria, David A. (Alex) Rann, and great grand children Benjamin B. Michaels, Braxtyn N. Michaels, Ariel J. Castellanos. As well as many, many, more cousins, nieces, and nephews and dear friends, too many to name. Joe is retired from West Virginia Local Labor Union, honorably discharged from the United States National Guard, and a lifetime member of Apostolic Life Cathedral. He valued spending time with his family above all else. He worked hard his whole life in various labor trades, and was able to build, fix, or do just about anything. He met the love of his life at the house of the lord in 1960. Fell in love and wed in 1961. They will have been married 60 years this July. He taught us the simple, humble values of honour, humility, sacrifice, love and passion for Christ. He was the patriarch and rock of his family, and has left us with a space that will never be filled. He led his life through examples that we follow in our daily lives, and standards that we can only hope to come close to. His memory will last forever through those that knew and loved him. Funeral Service will be held at 7 PM, Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Apostolic Life Cathedral, Huntington, WV with Bishop E. S. Harper officiating. Burial will follow the service at Yatesville Memorial Gardens, Yatesville, KY. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, OH, is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at ehallfuneralhome.com.
