
Johnnie Russell Scott, 78, of Chesapeake, OH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley. He was born on May 9, 1942 in Wayne, WV to the late Russell Scott and Gracie (Smith) Scott. Johnnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn Sue (Thompson) Scott; Daughter Amy Mischelle Scott; 2 brothers Daris Scott and Glen Scott; and 1 sister Nettie (Scott) Napier. He is survived by his Daughter Sarah (Edward) Gillespie; son John Joesph (Mindy) Scott; and 3 Sister-in-law’s Patricia Bennett, Doris Thompson and Virginia Scott. Johnnie also leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Brittany (Gillespie) Hogan, Will Scott, Serenity Scott, Shane Scott, Shaelyn Parsons, Earl Parsons, Kara Wilson, and Kirk Wilson.
Johnnie went to serve our country at the age of 17 and after getting out of the Army moved to Ypsilanti MI and started his career as a Transmission Specialist for General Motors where he retired after 23 years. He loved to spend time with his wife and kids as well as cooking at numerous church camps in the MI area. Johnnie’s hobbies included fixing lawn mowers that others could not, and building go carts and even an ice rink in his front yard for the kids and their friends. Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday April 22, 2021 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville Ohio at 2pm. Burial will follow the service at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville WV. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
