1929 - 2021

December 31,1929- April 14,2021 Mrs. Kernus Greene was born to Sarah Pierson Martin and Dillian Frank Martin in Charleston, W,Va. She was educated in the Cabell County school system and graduated from Douglas High School. In August 1952 she was married to Rudolph Edward Greene who was serving in the US Navy. After his tour of duty was completed he returned to Huntington where they lived until his death. She was employed by Polan Industries in Huntington for several years. She was later employed by Scott Community Center after school program as a cook, a job she loved. She loved children and they loved her. She tried to make the children’s favorite dishes, and made sure they had plenty to eat with a wonderful dessert. As a young adult she gave her life to the Lord and served faithfully at the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ. Later she joined the Real Life Christian Center and served faithfully until Covid-19 closed public gathering. But when the ban was lifted she made her way back to church when she was able. Even when her health was failing she wanted to be in church. Kernus enjoyed baking and cooking for friends and family and contributed to church covered dishes and pot luck events. “Ker-Ker” as she was affectionately known by her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother, Curtis, and her husband. She leaves to carry on her legacy two sons; Roget of Richmond Va. and Jacques of Huntington. One grandson, Jason M Greene, one great grandson Justin, two great granddaughters Cameron Melia, and Reagan Avise and A host of cousins, friends and of course, her loving church family. Especially Min.Teresa Johnson, and Min. Virgil Johnson. She will be greatly missed by those that knew her. Special thanks to; Cabell Huntington Hospital and Hospice of Huntington that took care of her and kept the family informed of her changes. Special Thanks to Pastor Shaw and the Real Life Christian Church family. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Real Life Christian Center, 2911 9th Avenue, Huntington, WV.
