The family of Elvina Shipman would like to let you know she spread her wings and her work here is completed. Since November 12, 1938 she has made some valuable memories. Elvina married the love her life on 01/26/1957 the late Willie J. Shipman. She was a daughter to the late Johnny Ooten, Vicie and Fred Dempsey. She has four sisters Frances Ooten Newsome (deceased), Evelyn Ooten Adkins, Deanna Dempsey, and Sherry (Merle) Dempsey along with one brother Freddie (Debbie) Dempsey.
Starting in 1957 Elvina brought three beautiful children into this world. William F. Shipman (Carol), James R. Shipman and Michelle Moore (Craig). She also loved her grandchildren like they were her own. Kristen Shipman, Alexis “Nikki” Stapleton (Jerry) and Nathaniel “Nathan” Moore who will all miss her every day. In addition, she had three great-grandchildren Kiristyn Shipman, Ayden Stapleton and Kaitlyn Stapleton whose lives she greatly enriched.
Elvina worked as a teller at the Bank of Mingo in Naugatuck WV but the real work she accomplished was creating a home and memories with her family. Elvina was a beloved member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She loved reading, auctions and yard sales. She was a friend to just about every one she met and had a loving heart. Her faith in God never waivered and she can now rest peacefully.
In her last days she received excellent care from the Hospice House of Huntington and the family wanted to express their appreciation for that wonderful organization, the caring and amazing staff as well as they allowed her to spend her remaining time with her beloved family.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Mount Pleasant
Cemetery, Willow Wood, Ohio, with Pastor Larry Casteel officiating. Burial will
follow. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Schneider Hall Funeral
