1931 - 2024
 Rev. John James Bourn, 93, of Milton, was promoted to Glory at home on March 4, 2024. John was born January 6, 1931, in Tague, Braxton County, WV, to the late John and Hallie Meadows Bourn. John was the last of 11 children preceded in death by sisters Mary Katherine Alexander, Betty Cameron, Eileen Hall, Marie Stone, Susan Crawford, and Lenore Battista; brothers C. Burnell “Bud” , Dewey, David and Steve Bourn; wife Helen Skidmore Bourn; sons John II “JJ” and Gary; granddaughter Laura Bourn and twin Bourn. John is survived by granddaughter Christy (Dustin) Salmons of Milton and grandson Anthony Bourn of Lynchburg, VA; two great grandchildren Harper and Gabriel Bourn; special daughter-in-law Barbara Bourn; many nieces and nephews; special friends Lee Ann, Randy Black and Mike Legg. John was an Army Veteran and worked at Carbide before surrendering to the ministry January 6, 1969. He served as Pastor at First Tyler Mountain Baptist Church in Cross Lanes. He was founding Pastor at Victory Baptist Church of Cross Lanes, Pastor at Grace Baptist of Milton before leaving the area and relocated to Florida where he led the music for several different churches. He returned to WV and ministered in music at Cross Roads Baptist Church where after retiring he continued to bless in song. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Cross Roads Baptist Church, Huntington, officiated by Rev. Glenn Matthews, Rev. Bob Browning and Rev. Bradley Joseph.
