Mary Eloise Altizer Baumgardner, 97, went to be with her Lord on April 24, 2024 after a short sickness.
Preceding her in death were her parents Carl and Mae Childers; her husbands Earl Altizer and Leonard Baumgardner; her brother Kenneth Childers; and her daughter and son-in-law Susan and John Call. She is survived by her granddaughters Johnna (Willie) Adkins of Wayne, Karen (Jim) Butcher of Madison, and Leigh Anne (Tom) Roten of Barboursville; great-grandchildren Evan (Allison) Butcher, Jonathan Butcher, Ryan Butcher, Jenna Butcher, Braden Roten, Joshua Roten, Samuel Roten, Sutton Roten, Camron Pullin, and Kaitlyn Pullin; great-great-grandson Grayson Butcher; and "adopted great-grandchildren" Jeremy and Lora Pullin of Flatwoods, KY.
She graduated from Barboursville High School in 1944. She worked as a nurse for Drs. Bourne and Folsom for many years and was proud to have had that career. She was a long-time member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, where she loved to sing in the choir. Most important in her life was her faith in Jesus Christ.
Greatly missed will be the bright colors she loved to wear and the bright personality that went with those colors.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Johnna, Karen, and Leigh Anne for their selfless, sacrificial care for Granny after the unexpected death of Eloise's only child Susan in 2018.
The funeral service will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel in Barboursville. Visitation will be one hour prior. Pastor Jim Butcher, Pastor Greg Markins, and Pastor Jonathan Butcher will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice House of Huntington.
