Charlotte Akers Chapman Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1933 - 2024 Charlotte Akers Chapman, 91, of Salt Rock, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 17, 1933, a daughter of the late Whitt and Nona Sias Akers. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrell Chapman and one sister, Beatrice Siple. She is survived by her seven children, Carolyn Sue Grimes, Rebecca Jean Smith (Wade), James Erie Chapman (Rita), Jonathan Darrell Chapman (Vickie), Shirley Ann Reynolds (Denver), Rex Allen Chapman (Tami), Celia Gay Hatfield (Gary); 12 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, David Akers (Judy) of Georgia, Whitney Akers (Kathleen) of Florida and Wetzel Akers (Sharon) of North Carolina; and two sisters, Gail Byrd of Ohio and Oneda Clark of Florida. Special thank you to Jean Chapman Bowen for her time spent with mom, that was special to her. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm. Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor John Chapman. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. We are so sorry for your loss. She and I (Christi) shared a birthday. We always enjoyed both her and your dad when they came to VOD - even in more recent years.

Dear family, I am Marceline’s daughter, Marianne. Mom and Charlotte were cousins, (my grandma was Vonnie, Nona’s sister) and mom was very fond of Charlotte. She spoke of her often. I have a picture of Charlotte, Beatrice, and my grandma Vonnie, taken in the 1940s, in a studio. It is one of my favorite photos. I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you.
