Haru Takahara Ward, 81, of Ona, passed away October 15, 2024. She was born September 5, 1943, in Okinawa, Japan, daughter of the late Saburou and Matsu Takahara. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister Hide Shigema. She was devoted to her husband of 55 years Paul Edward Ward Jr.; loving mother to Chiemi and John McKenna and Roger Ward; one sister, Kinue Ishikawa of Okinawa, Japan; one brother Keishu Takahara of Okinawa, Japan; four grandchildren who were the love of her life, Matthew and Nicolas McKenna, Kendall Taylor, and Kaiya Ward; aunt, Fumiko Phillips; cousins, Yoneko and John Kenyon, William and Susan Phillips, Gene and Irma Phillips; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Christy Hall who devoted countless days helping our family through this difficult time. A special thank you to Ohio State University James Cancer Center who went above and beyond caring for our mother. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will be private.
