1955 - 2025

Ronald F. AdkinsRonnie, born May 24, 1955, passed away at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House May 17, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 49 years Anita Adkins, sister Sharon (Butch) Chapman of Salt Rock, WV; brothers Tommy (Martha) Adkins of Hurricane, Danny Cooper of Asheboro, NC; special cousin Karen Tabor-Morrow of Griffithsville, WV; three children, Nathaniel (Michelle) Adkins of Barboursville, WV; Erin Lewis (Bobby Gay) of Elkview, WV; and Tracy (Jamy) McClanahan of Barboursville, WV; four grandchildren, Sam Adkins, Ethan (Kyleah) Rinehart, Ashley Brinkman, Quinton Rinehart and many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend Clyde DeVore; and many more beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Lillie Duncan, fathers Nathan Adkins and Walter Duncan, Jr.; and sister Judy Kelly.

Ronnie retired from Brewer Sprinkler and was a proud union member of UA Local 669 for over 51 years. He was an avid outdoorsman finding happiness in hunting deer, turkey, wild boar and fly fishing. In his younger years, he loved racing motorcycles and doing competitive motorcycle hill-climb. He spent many years volunteering as his children’s t-ball coach, softball coach, and as a band parent. He loved his family with his whole heart and especially loved spending time with his grandson Sam, who he taught to bow hunt deer. He was the one the family always called upon to help fix any and everything, the one we asked for sage advice, and the one we knew always had a funny story to tell us.

The family would like to thank Drs. Patick and Kumar for their many years of treatment as well as Dr. Andy Pearson for the kindness shown near the end of his life. We’d like to acknowledge Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington for their care. Thank you to his neighbors for their support during his illness. In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made to Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice of Huntington or charity of choice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by grandsons Sam Adkins and Ethan Rinehart, and special friend Anthony “Peanut” Cremeans. Burial will be in Gill Cemetery, Salt Rock. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
