Betty Jane Poynter, 95, of Barboursville, WV, passed away June 12, 2025. She was born August 23, 1929, in Lesage, WV, daughter of the late Charles C. and Eva Lena Perry McComas. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ronald Poynter, and four sisters, Pauline Teubert, Frances Jenkins, Freda Harris, and Patricia Maxon, eight brothers, Harold, Everett, Frosty, Don, Ken, Bob, Ray and Ted McComas. Betty was a longtime member of Highlawn Baptist Church and was a current member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter Teresa Harper (Roger) of Barboursville, and son Dale Poynter of Barboursville; three grandchildren Stephanie Vanover, Jared Harper, and Logan Poynter; five great-grandchildren Caelan, Ryan, Ross, Crosby, and Camilla. Special thanks to The Village at Riverview Assisted Living, St. Mary’s NT ICU and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their loving care. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by her nephew, Pastor Kenny Estep. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
